A lot of the time I field questions about what study books to use. I have personally found the Sybex line to be very information. That said, many people recommend using at least 2 books if studying on your own as each one will cover a slightly different version of the material.
Below are books for my three certifications. The only one I have personally used is the Network+ guide, but the material is quite good. I am also using Sybex for CASP and Project+ and have been having a good experience so far. Definitely look into them, and certainly check them out on Amazon since they're cheap! ($35 or so for a book, instead of $2000 for a class....). I really like the books since it allows me to study on my own time, and in my own way.
I have also had some success with The Visible Ops Handbook. It was more of a reference than a study guide, but was very helpful in learning the basics and applying the ideas to my day to day work.
The thing to remember is that it isn't any specific book that will be helpful, but the discipline you apply to your study. Don't be afraid to ask around and work with others!
